Her Eyes

Her Eyes

Amrit Pinglia

Her beautiful blue eyes

Were filled with deep white lies,

You knew she was trying-

I knew she was lying.

As others thought ill,

She was taught to kill.

She is a fake,

I don’t associate with snakes

I need her trust-

While she needs my lust.

I knew she was no good,

Living in this hood;

I am one of the few

That is not new;

New to her wicked tricks and games.

This poem is like Edgar Allan Poe’s poems because I used rhyming couplets and the rhyme scheme of aabbccddeeffgghh. Poe’s poems are very glum and have a disappointed tone, that is what I tried doing while creating this poem. Majority of Poe’s [poems have rhyming couplets or a unique rhyme scheme and that is what I kept in mind while writing this poem.
